St. Louis, May 5, 2004 – Westar Display Technologies will be exhibiting new innovations at this year’s SID 2004 Conference in Seattle Washington, USA.

The latest entry in the highly successful FPD Performance Measurement (FPM) product line is already gaining popularity with LCD TV, monitor, and notebook integrators, backlight suppliers, materials manufacturers, and custom display manufacturers. The FPM-Light (shown on right) retains the most popular features of the standard FPM product line for automated FPD testing, yet is priced to meet lower budgets.

The new T-Drive universal tester (shown on left) provides increased throughput for testing TFT panels. Productivity enhancements include quick timing changes when testing a new part number, one button pattern changes when isolating panel problems, and selectable, configurable pattern sequences for the quickest possible panel diagnosis. Ideal for burn-in testing on panels, the complementary T-Soak is configured to simultaneously drive up to 4 panels of the same electrical interface. The T-Soak cabling and drive profiles are compatible with the T-Drive, thereby minimizing training costs.

Gray level response time (GLRT) measurement capability is beneficial to LCD panel manufacturers to characterize their panels and to panel integrators to aide in the development of over-drive electronics to enhance LCD response time. The new GLRT measurement apparatus (shown on right) will be exhibited as a stand-alone item. It is also available as an option to the FPM. Westar’s GLRT measurement solutions provide rapid, automated, measurement of response time between all selected combinations of gray levels. In most cases response times of single gray-shade transitions can be measured.

Westar’s video adapter group will be exhibiting the new VP9-Dual. This product (shown on left) digitizes two RGB inputs, and combines the image by various methods, including PIP, split screen, alpha blending, RGB keying, and more.

The Westar team is available to discuss these innovations and more at booths 1203 and 1208.
