St.
Louis, MO, September 21 2004 –
The management of Westar Display
Technologies (WDT) said today that they look
forward to working with QinetiQ's display
technologists and exploring synergies to
maximize opportunities for display-related
products and services.
Earlier this month, Westar Aerospace &
Defense Group, Inc., the parent company of
WDT, agreed to be acquired by QinetiQ,
(pronounced ki' ne tik), one of the world’s
largest science and technology companies, in
a transaction valued at approximately $130
million.
“We look forward to working with QinetiQ's
display technologists to explore synergies
between their intellectual property and our
market position as a leading provider of
display quality assurance equipment, display
service equipment, and video components,”
said Dave Heiligenstein, managing director,
Westar Display Technologies. “QinetiQ's
expertise and inventions in LCD materials
are well known, but they are also active in
high performance visualization using diverse
display technologies.”
Heiligenstein said he expects that as
part of QinetiQ, WDT will be able to
continue to grow its already strong sales in
the UK.
QinetiQ pioneered research and
development of many household technologies
such as liquid crystal displays, carbon
fiber, infra-red sensors and microwave
radar.
