VP7-Short / SC-1 Special Video Conversion Board Set

Looking for a PC-based video conversion unit that converts standard PC video into a unique video timing? If so, check out Westar's VP7-Short / SC-1 boardset.

Common VP7-Short / SC-1 Applications include:

  • Convert non-interlaced standard PC video to interlaced formats, such as RS-343 and RS-170 (and vice versa!)
  • Convert standard PC video to a smaller format video
  • Convert RGBHV to RGB Sync-On-Green (and vice versa!)
  • Create non-standard timings from standard PC video
  • Window an area-of-interest out of a video stream, and output in a different format

The VP7-Short is described on the VP7 product page. The SC-1 is a special carrier board for the Westar VP7-Short video adapter. The VP7-Short mounts onto the SC-1 board as shown in the photo to the right. The combination board set fits in a PCI or PCIe slot in a PC.

A standard hard drive power connector from your PC power supply connects to the board and supplies 12 VDC.

The VP7-Short acts as the video processing engine for the board set. Because the SC-1 connects to the analog input only of the VP7-Short, the SC-1 is for applications requiring conversion of analog RGB video. The SC-1 video input connector is the industry standard HD15 connector. The SC-1 connects to the analog RGB input of the VP7-Short, where all video processing occurs. The SC-1 then connects to the single pixel digital RGB data output from the VP7-Short, and converts this data into Analog RGB. Both RGBHV and RGB Sync-on-Green input and output are possible.

The VP7-Short Processing engine is configured using VP7configure software, supplied free-of-charge to all VP7 customers.
