Why the VP9?

The VP9 is used for complex video combining of two asynchronous video inputs. Other cards support low resolution video and RGB PIP functions. The VP9 supports fully configurable video blending, windowing, and overlay functions for inputs up to UXGA resolution. Blending types include RGB keying and alpha blend.

Output timing and resolution is completely independent of the inputs. Other features include: contrast and brightness control with (2) control choices (digital or remote control), left/right & top/bottom image flip, and control signals and power for your backlight inverter. The VP9 includes an onboard LVDS interface to drive your LVDS panel.

Inputs include RS-343, RS-170, STANAG, NTSC, PAL, DVI, and Analog RGB.

VP9configure™

The VP9configure™ software gives you complete control to set up the VP9 for your application. The software installs on your Windows XP PC and communicates to the VP9 through a com port on the PC. The software includes a wizard that steps you through seven areas of setup, including: Input definition, Output definition, Scale/Position/Output Content definition, Video Blending, Power Sequencing, Contrast and Brightness, and finally input capture adjustments.

The screen on the right shows the Scale/Position/Output Content definition. For each input, the area of interest and its scaling and position within the output resolution is defined. To define the output content, the user defines how the scaled and positioned outputs are combined. Techniques include full screen mixing, windowed mixing, and windowed outputs.

Once the configuration is defined, it can be saved permanently to non-volatile memory in the VP9.

VP9configure™ software is available free of charge to VP9 customers.
