Westar announces the VP18E 4K LCD Controller
Saint Charles Missouri, Sept 9, 2026 – Westar Display Technologies, Inc., a supplier of LCD controllers and video processing components, has added the VP18E to its LCD controller product line.
The VP18E is Westar’s first LCD controller to support an HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 input up to 4K/60Hz. In addition, the VP18E can support an additional 4K/60Hz HDMI or DisplayPort input via an optional mezzanine, as well as a 1080P or lower input from our array of VP14/VP17 input mezzanines. Thus the VP18E can display video simultaneously from up to 3 separate ports on displays up to 4K. HDMI or DisplayPort output is standard, and optional output mezzanines support V-by-One or Quad LVDS panels.
The VP18E supports up to 4 simultaneous windows. Each window may be assigned to any of the inputs, and the window can be placed anywhere in the output active area without any restrictions. A window may be scaled, rotated in 90-degree increments, and flipped horizontally or vertically.
Each of the (3) input ports is serviced by a mode handler that automatically detects pre-programmed video formats, and maps incoming video content to windows per customer-defined modes.
The VP18E is ideal for custom Wide Area displays used in Training and Simulation. The optional Keying feature fuses PC video with camera video via keying, applicable to medical and simulation applications requiring the lowest possible video latency.
The VP18E form factor (9.45″ x 5.85″) allows insertion in space-constrained applications. The VP18E is ready for delivery and includes the VP18E Configuration Utility, a PC-based application to help customers configure the unit for each unique application.
