Video Combiner - EZwindow 221

EZwindow 221

EZwindow 121/221
Video Combiner

The EZwindow™ video combiner converts analog or digital video from multiple inputs into a common, synchronized output format, and then combines the video or blends video in one of a variety of user defined methods. Special attention has been given to minimize latency, while achieving broad area-of-interest control on inputs and outputs. In addition, EZwindow™ supports video overlays for specialty simulation applications.

Features

Z

EZwindow 121

The EZwindow 121 is identical to a EZwindow-2 in a benchtop or 1U enclosure with a few additional output options (listed below).

Inputs

  • 2 inputs with support up to WUXGA
  • Each input can accept video in one of many formats, including: DVI-I (TMDS and analog RGB), RS-343, RS-170, NTSC, PAL, STANAG

Outputs

  • 1 dual link DVI output up to 2560×1600
  • Optional NTSC composite output with BNC
  • Optional composite / component output with BNC pigtail cabling

EZwindow 221

The EZwindow 221 is identical to 2 EZwindow-2s in a 1U enclosure with a few additional output options (listed below).

Inputs

  • 2 sets of 2 inputs with each input supporting up to WUXGA
  • Each input can accept video in one of many formats, including: DVI-I (TMDS and analog RGB), RS-343, RS-170, NTSC, PAL, STANAG

Outputs

  • 2 sets of 1 dual link DVI output up to 2560×1600
  • Optional NTSC composite output with BNC
  • Optional composite / component output with BNC pigtail cabling

Video Combining Capabilities

Alpha blend

Two video sources are mixed per a user defined ratio. This is the most common video blending technique.

RGB keying

Two video sources are mixed, based on RGB content of one of the video sources. Allows Up to (4) different levels of mixing based on If-Then-Else logic statements for RGB content.

HSV keying

Two video sources are mixed, based on the calculated HSV value of each RGB pixel in one of the video sources.

Stereo mixing

Two video sources are synchronized, and then output as alternating fields. This is used for creating active stereo outputs from separate left and right sources. The output is synchronized to one of the inputs. 120 Hz operation is possible, at up to 165 MPixel/sec.

Windowing

A window is defined within a background region, where the window may exhibit either the foreground or a mix of foreground and background.

Split screen

A portion of the display (top or left) displays one image or a portion of an image, while the other portion (bottom or right) displays the other image, or portion of an image.

Powerful Configuration Utility

Use Westar’s EZwindow configuration utility to define the input timing, output timing, keying scheme, and the area-of-interest within the source video and where to map the AOI within the output resolution. The configuration utility supports user-defined:

  • Input Timing and Output Timing
  • Video Scaling and Area-Of-Interest (AOI)
  • “Key” Processing
  • Border Colors
  • Image Flip (Horizontal and Vertical)
EZwindow Software

Example Applications

Keying on a video input to combine with 2nd input

In this example, an EZwindow-121 is used to key a live video feed (in the foreground) over the map graphic (in the background). Using HSV keying, the greenish area (as well as the black, non-active area) becomes transparent, thereby passing the background.HSV Keying Example

Combine 2 video feeds (left and right) into a alternating line 3D video

The EZwindow 121 is used to combine 4 a left image and a right image in an alternating line 3D image, appropriate for monitors using alternating line 3D optical films and passive 3D glasses.Create alternating line 3D image example

Synchronize a monochrome video input with a second overlay video input

In this example, a EZwindow 121 synchronizes a monochrome video input with an overlay video input, then allows 3 monochrome outputs, each selectable between the monochrome video, the overlay video, or a combined image of overlay video + the monochrome videosynchronize video example
